Stroppiana Bussia Barolo

Stroppiana is a family-owned estate based in La Morra with a long history of producing classically styled Barolo. The winery emphasizes traditional vineyard practices and restrained winemaking, allowing individual vineyard sites to speak clearly through the wines.

The Bussia cru, located in Monforte d’Alba, is one of Barolo’s most historic and respected vineyard areas. Known for its calcareous clay soils and elevated sites, Bussia often produces wines with greater structure, depth, and ageing potential compared to softer expressions from other communes.

Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine undergoes extended maceration to extract tannin, colour, and aromatic complexity. Ageing typically takes place in large Slavonian oak casks, preserving the purity and nuance of the fruit while gradually integrating the wine’s naturally firm tannins.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale garnet with orange-ruby reflections
Nose: Aromas of cherry, dried raspberry, and rose petal, layered with notes of tar, tobacco, dried herbs, and spice
Palate: Full-bodied with vibrant acidity and firm, structured tannins; flavours of red fruit, tea leaf, earth, and savoury mineral notes develop with air
Finish: Long and complex, with lingering floral notes, spice, and earthy depth

Cellaring & Pairings
Excellent ageing potential; enjoy now with extended decanting or cellar for 15–25+ years.

Pairs exceptionally well with braised meats, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, and roasted game. Also complements aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino.
