The Octave Glen Elgin 2010 11 Year Old

This single malt is a knockout from the Glen Elgin Distillery. Aged for 11 years in oak casks, this had its maturation process end with a flourish. It spent 3 months in an octave cask, a much smaller cask that allows for a much faster maturation, making a punchy, more intense dram. This was bottled in 2021 by Duncan Taylor and lies at a hearty cask strength 54.4% abv.You can expect the Glen Elgin character on the nose and palate, with whiffs of smoke and a characteristic Speyside fruitiness. Notes of almonds and marzipans arrive on a smooth finish, which accompanies notes of charred oak and vanilla. A splendid dram from a modest distillery.
