Villa Corti Don Tommaso

Villa Corti is the wine estate of the historic Corsini family, whose roots in Tuscany date back centuries. Located near Florence in the Chianti Classico appellation, the estate combines traditional Tuscan viticulture with meticulous modern cellar practices, emphasizing sustainable farming and long-term vineyard stewardship.

“Don Tommaso” is the estate’s flagship wine, named in honour of an ancestor of the Corsini family. Classified as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, the wine is produced from carefully selected estate vineyards planted at higher elevations on galestro and limestone-rich soils. These conditions help produce Sangiovese with concentration, aromatic complexity, and vibrant acidity.

The wine is predominantly Sangiovese, often with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon depending on the vintage. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks with extended maceration to build structure and depth. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for an extended period before additional bottle maturation, resulting in a polished yet terroir-driven expression of Chianti Classico.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with garnet reflections
Nose: Complex aromas of black cherry, plum, and dried raspberry, layered with notes of violet, cedar, tobacco, leather, and sweet spice
Palate: Full-bodied and structured, with vibrant acidity and refined tannins; flavours of ripe red and dark fruit are balanced by savoury herbs, earthy undertones, and subtle oak influence
Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering spice, mineral notes, and classic Tuscan savouriness

Cellaring & Pairings
Excellent ageing potential; enjoy now with extended decanting or cellar for 10–15+ years.
Pairs exceptionally well with grilled steak, roasted lamb, wild game, and rich pasta dishes. Also complements truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses such as Pecorino Toscano and Parmigiano Reggiano.
