Vineland Estates Vidal Icewine VQA

Vineland Estates Winery, located on the Niagara Escarpment in Ontario, is a well-established producer known for both table wines and premium icewines. The region’s cold winters are ideal for icewine production, allowing grapes to freeze naturally on the vine before harvest.

Vidal Blanc is particularly well-suited to icewine due to its thick skins and ability to withstand harsh winter conditions. Grapes are typically harvested at temperatures of -8°C or lower, then pressed while frozen, yielding a small मात्रा of highly concentrated juice rich in sugar, acidity, and flavour.

Fermentation is slow and carefully controlled to preserve aromatics and balance the high natural sugar levels. The VQA designation ensures adherence to strict Canadian quality standards for origin and production.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep golden amber
Nose: Intense aromas of apricot, peach, honey, and tropical fruit, with hints of citrus and marmalade
Palate: Lusciously sweet and full-bodied, with flavours of ripe stone fruit, pineapple, honey, and candied citrus, balanced by bright acidity
Finish: Long and vibrant, with lingering sweetness and refreshing acidity

Cellaring & Pairings
Excellent ageing potential; can be enjoyed now or cellared for 10–20+ years, developing deeper honeyed and caramelized notes over time.
Pairs well with fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, and blue cheeses. Also complements foie gras or can be enjoyed on its own as a dessert.
