Urbina Tinto Seleccion

Bodegas Urbina is a family-owned estate located in Rioja Alta, an area known for producing elegant, age-worthy wines. With a strong focus on traditional methods, the winery emphasizes estate-grown fruit, long ageing periods, and minimal intervention to preserve regional character.

The Tinto Selección is typically based on Tempranillo, sometimes complemented by small amounts of Garnacha or Graciano. Vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils, contributing to structure and ageing potential. The 2000 vintage in Rioja experienced warm conditions, producing wines with ripe fruit and solid structure.

Following fermentation in stainless steel, the wine underwent extended ageing in American oak barrels, followed by significant bottle ageing prior to release. With over two decades of development, the wine now expresses fully evolved tertiary characteristics while retaining structural integrity.
