Henry Pelham 2020 Speck Family Reserve Pinot Noir

Grapes come from Block 100 at the “Old Farm” Vineyard on the Short Hills Bench in Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment. The 2020 vintage used sustainable viticulture. About 30% of the oak used was new European oak, aged ~10 months.

This wine opens with aromas of ripe red berries, cranberry, anise, and toasty oak spice. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy fruit like raspberry and bramble, balanced by velvety, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. The finish is clean and lingering, showing hints of savory herbs and subtle minerality.Serve at 15-16 °C (59-61 °F) in Burgundy/PINOT-style glasses to highlight its delicate aromatics. Decant 20-30 minutes if early in its life to open flavors.
