Miro Cellars 2022 Bastoni Vineyard Zinfandel

Miro Cellars, led by winemaker Miroslav “Miro” Tcholakov, specializes in small-lot Sonoma wines from distinctive vineyard sites. Bastoni Vineyard lies in the Fountaingrove District, east of Santa Rosa, where the Bastoni/Messana family has farmed grapes since the early 1900s. The historic property was replanted in 2005 and remains particularly associated with Zinfandel.

The 2022 vintage was exceptionally dry across Sonoma, producing smaller berries and lower yields but highly concentrated fruit. Miro’s 2022 Bastoni bottling earned 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, plus Gold at the 2024 Dan Berger International Wine Competition and Double Gold at the 2025 OC Fair.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with vivid purple-red highlights.
Nose: Candied raspberry, rose and white pepper with blackberry, plum and subtle spice.
Palate: Juicy and concentrated, with blackberry and plum framed by vibrant acidity and plush, well-defined tannins.
Finish: Fresh and persistent, with dark fruit, star anise and lingering spice.
