Ancnoc 16 Year Old

anCnoc 16 Year Old is produced at Knockdhu Distillery, established in 1894 beneath Knock Hill in the Scottish Highlands. Although the distillery is called Knockdhu, its single malt is bottled under the anCnoc name, taken from the Gaelic name for the hill overlooking the distillery. This distinction also helps prevent confusion with the similarly named Knockando Distillery.

What makes the 16 Year Old particularly appealing is its straightforward maturation. It spends the full 16 years exclusively in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, allowing Knockdhu's naturally bright citrus and fruit character to remain at the forefront rather than being dominated by sherry or wine casks.

Tasting Notes
Nose: An intense burst of fresh citrus opens the whisky before developing into soft, fragrant vanilla, with underlying orchard fruit, malt, and gentle floral character.

Palate: Light and lively with zesty citrus and gentle spice, followed by creamy vanilla and rich, sticky toffee. Additional notes of apple, honeyed malt, and restrained oak add depth without weighing down the whisky.

Finish: Long and lingering with toffee sweetness, citrus, vanilla, warming spice, and gently drying oak.
