Jefferson Amaro Importante 1.5L

Jefferson Amaro Importante comes from Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, a rural agricultural producer in Calabria, southern Italy. The project is deeply tied to its surroundings, with the producer growing and selecting many of the citrus fruits and botanicals used in its spirits rather than treating them simply as flavouring ingredients.

The recipe is particularly expressive of Calabria. Bergamot, bitter orange, sweet orange, rosemary, eucalyptus and oregano form its aromatic foundation, joined by bittering botanicals including gentian, rhubarb and wormwood, along with grapefruit, lemon, vanilla and other ingredients. The result is distinctly citrus-driven but with enough roots, herbs and bitterness to give it genuine amaro depth.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fragrant bergamot and orange immediately give it a distinctly Mediterranean character, followed by rosemary, oregano, eucalyptus and softer vanilla.

Palate: Bright citrus leads with sweet and bitter orange, lemon and grapefruit before developing into gentian, rhubarb and aromatic herbs. There's enough sweetness to round the edges, but the herbal bitterness and freshness keep the palate balanced rather than syrupy.

Finish: Persistent and herbaceous, with lingering citrus peel, Mediterranean herbs and earthy roots carrying a clean, pleasantly bitter finish.

Suggested Serve & Cocktails
Jefferson is excellent served neat at room temperature or chilled to around 5–10°C, but the producer specifically advises not to freeze it. Serving it too cold can mute the aromatic citrus and herbal complexity that makes the amaro distinctive.
