Wente Wetmore Cabernet Sauvignon

Wente Family Vineyards has farmed in Livermore Valley since 1883. Wetmore Cabernet Sauvignon is named for Charles Wetmore, an early California viticultural pioneer who introduced cuttings from leading Bordeaux estates to Livermore in the 1880s.

The estate Cabernet grows in gravelly loam soils between Arroyo del Valle and Arroyo Mocho, where warm days and cooling influences help Cabernet achieve ripeness while retaining structure. The 2022 was fermented in stainless steel and aged for 18 months in French oak, 40% new and 60% second- and third-use barrels.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby-purple.
Nose: Blackcurrant and cassis with blackberry, cocoa, hardwood and subtle earthy notes.
Palate: Full-bodied, with ripe black cherry and plum layered over cocoa, graphite and firm, structured tannins.
Finish: Long and concentrated, with lingering dark fruit, oak spice and savoury mineral character.
