Argiano 2020 Brunello

Argiano 2020 Brunello is made from 100% Sangiovese (the local “Brunello” clone of Sangiovese) grown around Montalcino. The 2020 vintage across Montalcino is widely regarded as excellent — a wet spring followed by a warm but moderate summer permitted even ripening without heat spikes, setting up ideal conditions for balanced fruit and structure. As with all Brunello di Montalcino DOCG wines, this wine will have undergone the required aging (at least two years in wood barrels plus several months in bottle before release) to develop its structure and cellaring potential.

On the nose you’ll often find a layered bouquet of dark cherry, plum and wild berry, joined by floral hints (violet, iris or lilac), and touches of Mediterranean herbs, forest floor, and a light mineral or earthy under-note. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full bodied with a concentrated core of cherry and blackberry fruit, balanced by lively acidity and firm yet refined tannins. There’s complexity: subtle spice, leather or tobacco leaf, dried herbs and a mineral undertone that adds depth and sophistication. The finish is long, elegant and persistent, with fruit and savory-earthy echoes that suggest both immediate appeal and long-term potential.
