Domaine La Croix Montjoie 2022 Vezelay L'elegante Bourgogne Blanc

Domaine La Croix Montjoie was founded in 2009 by Sophie and Matthieu Woillez in Tharoiseau, overlooking Vézelay. The organically farmed estate now covers approximately 15 hectares, primarily Chardonnay.

Vézelay became Burgundy’s 44th village appellation in 2017. Its elevated vineyards, proximity to the Morvan and limestone-rich soils give Chardonnay notable freshness, minerality and acidity, drawing some stylistic comparisons to nearby Chablis.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright pale gold with luminous golden highlights.

Nose: Yellow apple, lemon zest and subtle white florals with hazelnut, almond and a light flinty note.

Palate: Smooth yet precise, with ripe orchard fruit and citrus supported by fresh acidity and restrained oak.

Finish: Long and clean, with persistent limestone minerality and a distinctive saline edge. The 2022 received 92+ points from Falstaff.
