Fossacolle Brunello 2019

This Brunello is made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso sourced from the estate’s oldest vineyards in Montalcino. In the 2019 vintage, harvest began around end of September, with maceration lasting in steel and concrete vats for 21 days and aging for 24 months in French and Slavonian casks, followed by 12 months in concrete vats and 8 months in bottle. Alcohol content: 14.5 %. The 2019 vintage in Montalcino was celebrated for its excellent balance—firm skins, very good phenolic ripeness, and freshness thanks to cool nights in September and October.

The wine shows an intense ruby colour and opens with aromas of sour red cherries, fennel, dried violets, and potpourri, evolving into hints of leather, turned soil and menthol. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with clear fruit, fine acidity, and silky, persistent tannins that carry the finish with elegance and finesse.
This wine is already approachable but is expected to show best between 2026 and 2036, with peak integration of its fruit and structure likely around 2028–2032.
