Lagg Small Batch Palo Cortado

Lagg, Arran’s dedicated peated distillery on the island’s southern edge, is known for producing heavier, more rustic smoke than its Lochranza counterpart. This Small Batch release explores how that weighty peat interacts with Palo Cortado—a rare sherry style that naturally bridges the nutty sharpness of Amontillado with the deep sweetness of Oloroso.

Nose:
Earthy peat smoke, dried orange, roasted nuts, and dark toffee. Hints of leather, dates, and subtle coastal salinity add depth and intrigue.

Palate:
Bold and oily with layers of smoky malt, caramelized nuts, and dried stone fruits. The Palo Cortado influence introduces notes of fig, toasted almonds, and rich toffee, while the peat brings savoury, slightly herbal undertones. Spiced oak and a gentle sweetness round out the profile.

Finish:
Long, warm, and smoky with lingering roasted nuts, dried fruit, and a touch of maritime salt and oak spice.
