Octomore 16.2

Bruichladdich Distillery, founded in 1881 on Islay’s rugged west coast, is renowned for its progressive philosophy, transparency, and commitment to terroir-driven whisky. Its Octomore range, first released in 2008, is celebrated as one of the most heavily peated whisky series in the world, designed to challenge assumptions about young, smoky Scotch. This expression is distilled from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley peated to 101.4 PPM and matured for five years, initially in a combination of Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux wine casks before being finished in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks. Bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration, it demonstrates how complex cask maturation can complement Octomore’s signature smoke with layers of fruit, sweetness, and spice.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Soft dried fruit mingles with signature peat smoke, followed by sun-baked tropical fruit, delicate florals, toasted oak, and subtle nuttiness with hints of honeysuckle, orange blossom, and sea breeze.

Palate: Rich sweet smoke layered with caramelised sugar, roasted nuts, and dried fruits, joined by candied citrus peel, warming spice, and a touch of sea salt over earthy peat.

Finish: Long and sweetly smoky with crisp maritime freshness, lingering wood spice, and fading notes of fruit and toasted oak.
