Old Potrero 6 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey

Old Potrero was introduced in 1993 by Fritz Maytag as one of the pioneers of the American craft whiskey movement. Produced at Hotaling & Co. in San Francisco, it was created to recreate the style of whiskey enjoyed in America before Prohibition, using a mash bill of 100% malted rye distilled in small copper pot stills rather than modern column stills. This meticulous approach gives the whiskey a uniquely malty, complex character that stands apart from traditional rye expressions.

The 6 Year Old Single Malt Straight Rye has earned widespread recognition, including a Platinum Medal from the Beverage Testing Institute, a Gold Medal and 96 Points at the New York International Spirits Competition, 90 Points from Whiskey Advocate, and a place in Fred Minnick's Top 100 American Whiskeys.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh baked bread, ripe plum, stewed orchard fruit, cinnamon, allspice, cracked rye, and rich vanilla create an inviting, aromatic bouquet.

Palate: Rich and mouth-coating with notes of brown sugar, black cherry, maple syrup, toasted malt, baking spices, and warming rye character.

Finish: Long and satisfying with lingering toasted nuts, oak spice, gentle sweetness, and a touch of peppery rye.
