Old Pulteney Port Cask Single Malt

Old Pulteney Distillery, founded in 1826 in Wick on Scotland’s far north-eastern coast, crafts single malts famously shaped by the surrounding North Sea and brisk coastal climate. Its whiskies often carry a saline, slightly briny signature that has earned the distillery the nickname “the Maritime Malt.”
The Port Cask expression is part of Old Pulteney’s Coastal Series, a collection showcasing the interplay between its maritime spirit and casks from equally coastal regions around the world. For this release, spirit initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels is finished in hand-selected Ruby Port pipes and barriques from Portugal’s Douro Valley, allowing rich fortified wine character to blend with the distillery’s signature sea-kissed profile.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rose-gold whisky greets the senses with rich sultana sweetness, buttery vanilla and candied orange peel, layered with hints of cinnamon and marzipan cherries.

Palate: A full-bodied interplay of black fruits, citrus zest, gentle spice and salted caramel unfolds with nuance, while the classic maritime influence subtly brightens the experience.

Finish: Long and satisfying with lingering sweet spice, wood warmth and a touch of brine that echo the distillery’s coastal roots.
