The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Year Old 110 Proof

The Macallan 110 Proof takes the foundation of the distillery’s classic 12 Year Old Sherry Oak and presents it at a substantially higher 55% ABV. The whisky is matured for a minimum of 12 years exclusively in sherry-seasoned oak casks on The Macallan Estate at Easter Elchies in Speyside. ask management is central to The Macallan’s house style. The distillery sources both European and American oak, with casks sent to Spanish bodegas where they are seasoned with sherry before travelling to Scotland and being filled with Macallan’s robust, fruity new-make spirit. Across the Sherry Oak collection, European oak plays the leading role, contributing the dried fruit, spice and mature oak character for which the range is known.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Sticky dates and dried fruit lead with gentle cinnamon, followed by candied citrus, walnut, vanilla and mature oak. At 55%, the aromas are notably concentrated, with additional dark fruit and spice emerging as the whisky opens.

Palate: Rich and full-bodied with dates, raisins and dark cherry alongside chocolate, vanilla custard and orange zest. Cinnamon and oak spice build through the palate, joined by espresso, toffee and a distinctive warmth of stem ginger.

Finish: Long, warming and sherry-driven, with lingering dried fruit, cinnamon, ginger and toasted oak. Dark chocolate, nuts and gentle char gradually emerge as the sweeter fruit fades.
