Achaval Cabernet Franc

Achaval Ferrer is one of Argentina's most acclaimed wineries, renowned for crafting terroir-driven wines that express the unique character of Mendoza's finest vineyards. While the estate built its reputation on world-class Malbec, its Cabernet Franc has become a standout example of the variety's success in the Uco Valley, where intense mountain sunshine and cool Andean breezes encourage slow, even ripening and exceptional aromatic complexity.

Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, the fruit is sourced from high-altitude vineyards around 1,100 metres above sea level. Traditional vinification emphasizes purity and balance, with gentle extraction and ageing in French oak barrels to enhance structure while preserving the grape's vibrant fruit and herbal character. The result is a Cabernet Franc that bridges the freshness of the Loire Valley with the depth and richness of Mendoza.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep garnet with vibrant ruby highlights.

Nose: Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cassis, tomato leaf, fresh rosemary, graphite, violet, and subtle baking spice.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied with concentrated black fruit, plum, and dark cherry layered alongside savoury herbs, cracked pepper, cedar, and hints of menthol. Fine-grained tannins and lively acidity provide remarkable balance and precision.

Finish: Long, fresh, and elegant, with lingering dark fruit, herbal complexity, gentle oak spice, and a refined mineral note.

Cellaring
Enjoy now after decanting, or cellar for 8 to 12 years as the wine develops additional savoury complexity and integrates its fine tannins.
