Pieri Agostina Rosso Di Montalcino

Pieri Agostina is a family-run estate in Montalcino dedicated to traditional Tuscan winemaking and the expression of Sangiovese Grosso. The estate’s vineyards benefit from the rolling hills, varied elevations, and well-drained soils that make Montalcino one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

Rosso di Montalcino is often considered the younger, more approachable counterpart to Brunello di Montalcino. Made from the same Sangiovese Grosso grape, it is aged for a shorter period, resulting in a fresher, more fruit-forward expression while still retaining the structure and complexity characteristic of the region.

Fermentation is typically carried out in stainless steel with careful extraction to preserve freshness and varietal character. Ageing may take place in large oak casks or neutral barrels, adding subtle texture without overshadowing the wine’s fruit and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright ruby with garnet reflections
Nose: Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and red plum, with notes of violet, dried herbs, and light spice
Palate: Medium-bodied, with vibrant acidity and fine tannins; flavours of red berries, savoury earth, and subtle herbal notes create balance and depth
Finish: Fresh and elegant, with lingering cherry, spice, and mineral undertones
