Pōkeno Alchemy New Zealand Single Malt Whisky

Produced by Pōkeno Whisky, Alchemy joined the distillery's permanent core range in November 2025, marking its first new core expression since 2022.
Cask & Maturation
Alchemy combines whiskies fully matured in six different cask types, rather than relying on a secondary finishing period.
- Pedro Ximénez sherry butts: Contribute dried figs, rich fruit and additional depth.
- Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads: Introduce ripe cherries, dark chocolate and vibrant sherry sweetness.
- Lightly toasted virgin American oak: Adds body, soft vanilla and gentle oak character.
- Medium-toasted virgin American oak: Develops caramel, butterscotch and warming spice.
- Ruby Port barriques: Bring bright red berries and jammy fruit.
- Tawny Port barriques: Contribute richer dried fruit, nutty sweetness and complexity.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Ripe cherries, dark chocolate and warming spice mingle with gingerbread, burnt toffee and hints of mulled wine.
Palate: Rich plum, blackcurrant jam and Black Forest cake develop into golden honey, creamy caramel and vanilla bean, with a full, velvety texture.
Finish: Exceptionally long and fruity, with lingering dark chocolate, caramelized sweetness and gentle oak spice.
