Tapiz Alta Malbec

Tapiz Alta Malbec

The 2022 Malbec Alta Collection comes from San Pablo in the Uco Valley... it offers violet, cherry and plum notes with herbal nuances over an oak backdrop. The palate is smooth, intense and fairly lean, featuring fine, reactive tannins and a juicy, fruit-driven flavor that embodies a primary and pure character. This is a pristine high-elevation Malbec. - Antonio Galloni.

Tapiz Alta Malbec

Bodega Tapiz, founded in 2002, focuses on high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza, particularly in the Uco Valley. The Alta range represents the winery’s premium tier, emphasizing site selection, lower yields, and greater ageing potential.

The 2014 vintage in Mendoza experienced relatively balanced conditions, allowing for steady ripening and good phenolic development. Grapes for Alta Malbec are sourced from elevated vineyard sites where cool nights preserve acidity while warm days ensure full fruit maturity.
Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with controlled extraction, followed by ageing in French oak barrels (a portion new) for an extended period. This is complemented by additional bottle ageing prior to release, allowing tannins to integrate and secondary characteristics to develop.
