Bodegas Faustino I 2016 Gran Reserva Rioja

Bodegas Faustino is one of Rioja’s most iconic wineries, with a winemaking history dating back to 1861. Located in Rioja Alavesa, the estate has earned international recognition for its Gran Reserva wines, which exemplify the region’s tradition of extended ageing and graceful evolution.

Faustino I Gran Reserva is the winery’s flagship wine and is produced primarily from Tempranillo, often complemented by small amounts of Graciano and Mazuelo depending on the vintage. The vineyards benefit from Rioja’s continental climate moderated by Atlantic influences, allowing for slow ripening and excellent flavour development.

Colour: Deep garnet with brick-red reflections

Nose: Complex aromas of ripe cherry, dried plum, and red berries layered with notes of vanilla, cedar, tobacco, leather, and sweet spice

Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and balanced acidity; flavours of red and dark fruit are complemented by cocoa, toasted oak, balsamic notes, and savoury earthiness

Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering spice, tobacco, dried fruit, and classic Rioja character
