Velenosi 2019 Il Brecciarolo Rosso Piceno

Velenosi 2019 Il Brecciarolo Rosso Piceno

Give this a minute or two of air to bring out the chocolatey oak and ripe berries and cherries on the nose. Medium-bodied with the same mix of fruit and oak, lightly chewy tannins and a firm finish.Β - James Suckling

Velenosi 2019 Il Brecciarolo Rosso Piceno

$25.99

Velenosi 2019 Il Brecciarolo Rosso Piceno

Blend of 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese from vineyards in Offida and Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region. Vines planted on clay-calcareous soils at 200-300 metres elevation, using Guyot training and a fairly high planting density. Harvest is typically mid-October, hand picked. Alcohol content about 13.5%.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions:
Rich ruby with garnet edges. Aromas of pulped red fruits (cherry, plum), fresh violets, and hints of spice and subtle oak (vanilla, cocoa). On the palate it delivers juicy red berry and darker fruit flavors with warm spice, floral lift, and an earthy-savory undertone. The tannins are smooth but present, giving structure, and the finish is persistent and harmoniously balanced.
Serve at 15-17 Β°C (59-63 Β°F) in medium-to-large red wine glasses to accent its spice and floral components. Decant for 30-45 minutes if young to help open aromatics. Best with hearty tomato-based pastas, grilled meats, or aged cheeses. Drink now for fruit intensity, or cellar for 3-5 years to allow further integration and complexity.
