Château Capet Duverger 2020 St Emilion Grand Cru

Château Capet Duverger 2020 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a classic Right Bank Bordeaux blend from a family-owned estate in the Libournais region that emphasizes traditional terroir expression with careful modern technique. The vineyard is planted mainly to Merlot with a strong contribution from Cabernet Franc and, in some sources, a small bit of Cabernet Sauvignon, growing on well-drained clay-sandy soils with gravel that lend both richness and structure. The 2020 grapes were harvested plot by plot, fermented with controlled maceration for good extraction, then aged for about 12–14 months in French oak barrels with around 20–40% new oak, allowing integration of oak spice and tannic refinement while preserving the wine’s ripe fruit core. This aging regime gives the wine both early drinkability and the potential to cellar further for several years.

In the glass, the Capet Duverger 2020 shows a medium to full body with ripe dark fruit character—blackberry, plum and cassis—framed by balanced acidity and firm, refined tannins. Aromas include ripe black fruit, subtle spice, tobacco and earthy notes, with hints of coffee or roasted tomato in some interpretations. The palate delivers concentrated dark berries and spicy nuances with a long finish marked by elegant structure and gentle oak influence.
