Chartron & Trebuchet Cremant Bourg Brut

Chartron & Trebuchet Cremant Bourg Brut

In spite of its youth and the bright candied lemon and dried apple flavors, what stands out here is the chalky minerality and smoky lees character. Long, creamy, stony finish. - James Suckling (2023v)

Chartron & Trebuchet Cremant Bourg Brut

Winery & Winemaking Overview
Chartron & Trébuchet is a Burgundy négociant house with a focus on sourcing and producing wines that reflect regional character. While best known for still wines, the house also produces Crémant de Bourgogne using classic Burgundian grape varieties and traditional sparkling methods.

Crémant de Bourgogne is made using the méthode traditionnelle, with secondary fermentation in bottle and subsequent lees ageing to develop texture and complexity. The blend typically includes Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sometimes supported by Aligoté or Gamay, depending on the cuvée.

The Brut designation indicates a dry style, with minimal residual sugar, allowing the wine’s acidity and structure to remain prominent. The result is a sparkling wine that balances freshness with subtle autolytic notes.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale gold with fine, persistent bubbles
Nose: Aromas of green apple, citrus, and white flowers, with hints of brioche and almond
Palate: Light- to medium-bodied, with crisp acidity and flavours of lemon, orchard fruit, and delicate pastry notes
Finish: Clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus and light toasty nuance

Best enjoyed young within 2–4 years of purchase to preserve its freshness and effervescence.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with seafood, shellfish, and light appetizers. Also complements soft cheeses, salads, and dishes with delicate flavours.
