Chateau Boucasse 2020 Madiran

Sourced primarily from the signature grape of the region, Tannat (roughly 60 %) blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (~20% each), from vines aged 20–100 years in clay-limestone soils of Madiran. The 2020 vintage was very good: warm ripening, healthy yields and careful winemaking resulted in concentrated fruit and balanced structure. Ageing was done in old and new oak barrels for approximately 3 years.

This dense Madiran opens with aromas of black plum, blackberry compote, and licorice, along with hints of smoke, earthy spice, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate it’s full-bodied and structured, showing flavors of dark cherry, bitter chocolate, and dry herbs, supported by firm tannins and bright acidity—leading to a long, savory finish with a rolled-stone minerality.
