Chateau Teynac 2016 St Julien

Chateau Teynac 2016 St Julien

Attractive density of fruit to this red with lots of blackcurrant and wet-earth character. Full body and chewy tannins that are polished and rounded already. A pretty wine. - James Suckling

Chateau Teynac 2016 St Julien

ChΓ’teau Teynac 2016 Saint-Julien is crafted from estate vineyards planted on the gravelly soils characteristic of the Left Bank, ideal for cultivating structured, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon–dominant blends. The 2016 vintage in Bordeaux was marked by a near-perfect growing season, producing fruit with excellent concentration, balance, and refined tannins. Grapes were carefully sorted and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve precision and site expression. Fermentation was followed by aging in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop depth, integration, and the classic structure associated with Saint-Julien.

Tasting Notes:
The wine opens with layered aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum, complemented by notes of cedar, graphite, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with firm yet polished tannins supporting concentrated dark fruit flavours. A long, structured finish reveals hints of tobacco, earthy minerality, and gentle oak, showcasing both the power and refinement of the 2016 vintage.
