Domaine Lafage 2020/21 Bastide Miraflors

Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflors comes from the warm, wind-swept Roussillon region where old-vine Grenache grows on schist and granite soils and Syrah thrives on gravelly sites near the Mediterranean. The blend is typically about 70 percent Syrah and 30 percent Grenache. Grapes are harvested by hand and given a long maceration period to build colour, depth and texture. Aging usually lasts around twelve months with most of the wine in concrete to preserve freshness. A smaller portion rests in large French oak demi-muids to add gentle roundness and complexity.

Tasting Notes:
Bastide Miraflors offers expressive aromas of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and hints of spice, herbs and soft earth. The palate is full and generous with ripe dark fruit, warm spice, a touch of chocolate and smooth supporting tannins. The texture is velvety and concentrated with a long and balanced finish that carries subtle savory and mineral notes.
