Frescobaldi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

Frescobaldi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

Pretty Brunello with licorice, smoky woodland and ripe black cherries. Medium-bodied, soft and velvety at the start, then thick with an austere finish. Refreshing acidity. Good definition and savoriness here, yet it’s mostly fruity. Needs time to develop greater complexity. - James Suckling

Frescobaldi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

The Frescobaldi family has been producing wine in Tuscany for over 700 years and is one of Italy’s most historic and respected wine producers. With estates across the region, Frescobaldi combines deep tradition with modern viticultural and winemaking practices, focusing on expressing the identity of each appellation. Brunello di Montalcino is made exclusively from Sangiovese grown around the hilltop town of Montalcino. The 2020 vintage benefited from a relatively balanced growing season, producing wines with ripe fruit, refined tannins, and good aromatic clarity.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Garnet with ruby reflections
Nose: Complex aromas of red cherry, dried rose, and plum, layered with notes of tobacco, leather, and subtle spice
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with structured yet refined tannins, balanced acidity, and flavours of red fruit, earth, and savoury herbs
Finish: Long and persistent, with evolving notes of spice, dried fruit, and earthy undertones

Cellaring & Pairings
Suitable for long-term cellaring; drink now with decanting or cellar for 10–20+ years to allow further development.

Pairs well with roasted or grilled red meats, game, braised dishes, and aged cheeses. Also complements traditional Italian cuisine such as wild boar ragù or truffle-based dishes.
