J. Henry La Flamme Reserve

J. Henry & Sons La Flamme Reserve is produced by the Henry family in Dane, Wisconsin, using grain grown on their family farm. Their four-grain bourbon is built around a proprietary Wisconsin heirloom red corn, accompanied by rye, wheat, and malted barley. La Flamme Reserve takes its inspiration from La Flamme de l'Armagnac, the annual celebration in Gascony marking the grape harvest and beginning of the region's Armagnac distillation season. J. Henry selects mature bourbon barrels, blends them using techniques influenced by traditional French brandy production, and finishes the whiskey in Armagnac casks imported from France. Current producer information specifies selected five-year-old bourbon followed by an eight-month Armagnac-cask finish.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Cinnamon and warming spice lead into golden raisin and tobacco, with deeper notes of dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and honeyed corn developing as the whiskey opens.

Palate: Full-bodied and richly textured with baked pear, spiced plum, walnut, cinnamon, and concentrated bourbon sweetness. The Armagnac influence adds layers of stewed fruit and dried fruit alongside cornbread, caramel, and warming oak spice.

Finish: Long, smooth, and warming, with persistent cinnamon spice, toasted oak, dark fruit, and lingering brown-sugar sweetness.
