Kosta Browne 2021 Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir

The 2021 Kosta Browne 2021 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir was harvested over three weeks from a selection of vineyards across the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, benefiting from a cool-climate season that helped maintain vibrant acidity and bright fruit. Fermentation was carried out mostly in stainless steel (about 89%), with small portions in concrete and wood, and roughly 5% whole clusters to add subtle complexity. The wine then aged for 15 months in a blend of approximately 48% new French oak, plus additional wood casks and a small percentage of new Austrian oak, giving structure without overwhelming the Pinot Noir’s inherent finesse.

Tasting Notes:
On the nose the wine shows lifted aromas of cranberry, strawberry, cherry, and hints of forest floor, pine, clove and cinnamon stick. The palate is soft and medium-bodied with juicy red fruits, subtle citrus undertones, gentle spice and smooth, feathery tannins. The finish is long and elegant with clarity, freshness and a refined mineral edge.
