La Torre 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

La Torre 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

The organic La Torre 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of depth and dimension with plenty of red and purple berry fruits. La Torre makes Sangiovese that is aged for five years, as per the appellation guidelines, but it graciously does not have the heavy load of oak that you feel in many of its peers.Β - RobertParker.com

Torre Brunello Di Montalcino 2020

The 2020 vintage in Montalcino was warm and dry overall, with a mild spring that led to early budbreak. Summer brought consistent warmth without excessive heat spikes, allowing for steady ripening and preservation of acidity. Rainfall in late August refreshed the vines and supported optimal phenolic development. The harvest was slightly earlier than average, yielding ripe, healthy grapes with excellent color, tannin maturity, and balanced sugarsβ€”producing wines with both approachability and aging potential.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions:
The 2020 Torre Brunello di Montalcino offers lifted aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and dried rose petals, layered with hints of cedar, tobacco leaf, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, delivering flavors of dark plum, cranberry, and earthy minerality. Firm, polished tannins and fresh acidity give the wine structure and balance, while the finish is long and savory with lingering notes of balsamic, herbs, and crushed stone.

18Β°C (64–65Β°F) in large, bowl-shaped glasses to showcase its aromatics and depth. Decant for 1.5 to 2 hours when drinking young to soften tannins and open up the bouquet. Best paired with wild boar ragΓΉ, grilled lamb with rosemary, porcini mushroom risotto, or aged Pecorino Toscano. This wine is enjoyable now with proper decanting but will cellar gracefully for 12–15 years.
