Lake Breeze Meritage

Lake Breeze Vineyards is a family-owned winery located on the Naramata Bench in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. The region benefits from warm, sunny days and cooling lake influences, creating ideal conditions for ripening Bordeaux varieties while maintaining acidity.

Meritage is a proprietary term used for Bordeaux-style blends made outside of France, typically including varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. At Lake Breeze, these grapes are sourced from estate vineyards and carefully selected blocks to achieve balance and complexity.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by ageing in oak barrelsβ€”primarily French, with a portion of new oakβ€”to develop structure, texture, and layered flavour. The style aims to combine richness with elegance, reflecting both varietal character and regional conditions.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with garnet hues
Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, with notes of cedar, cocoa, and subtle spice
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with ripe dark fruit, structured tannins, and balanced acidity; hints of chocolate, tobacco, and oak spice add depth
Finish: Smooth and persistent, with lingering fruit and savoury notes

Cellaring & Pairings
Enjoy now with decanting or cellar for 5–10 years to allow further integration and development.
Pairs well with grilled beef, lamb, and roasted meats. Also complements hearty dishes, mushroom-based preparations, and aged cheeses.
