Lochlea Dark Briar Single Estate

Lochlea Distillery is an independent farm distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland, producing single estate whisky entirely from barley grown on its own land. The distillery has quickly gained attention for its seasonal small-batch releases, each designed to reflect a different point in the farming calendar. Dark Briar represents the autumn edition in the series, inspired by the transition into colder months and matured in a combination of carefully selected casks to emphasize richness, spice, and darker fruit character. Lochlea’s grain-to-glass philosophy and youthful but flavour-driven style have made it one of the most closely watched new distilleries in Scotch whisky.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Stewed apples and dark berries lead, followed by toffee, cinnamon, toasted oak, and a touch of earthy malt.

Palate: Rich and warming, with notes of caramel, baked fruit, and honey layered alongside nutmeg, cocoa, and gentle oak spice.

Finish: Medium-long and comforting, with lingering dark fruit, soft spice, and a lightly dry, cereal-driven fade.
