Bruichladdich Distillery, founded in 1881 on Islay’s western shore, has become known for its innovative philosophy, radical transparency, and deep commitment to terroir. The Octomore series—often described as the world’s most heavily peated whisky—explores the limits of peat influence while demonstrating that extreme phenol levels can still produce balance and complexity. This expression is distilled from 100% Islay-grown barley sourced from Octomore Farm, located just a few miles from the distillery. Peated to an extraordinary 307.2 PPM, it is matured for five years primarily in first-fill bourbon casks with a portion in second-fill wine casks. Like all Bruichladdich releases, it is bottled at natural colour, non-chill filtered, and matured entirely on Islay.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Intense peat smoke layered with bright citrus, vanilla cream, toasted barley, and sweet malt, with hints of sea spray, green apple, and delicate floral notes.

Palate: Powerful yet balanced with earthy smoke, honeyed malt, lemon zest, and creamy vanilla, followed by roasted grain, subtle oak spice, and touches of orchard fruit.

Finish: Long, smoky, and warming with lingering peat embers, soft sweetness, maritime freshness, and gentle spice.
