Saxum 2022 G2 Vineyard

The 2022 Saxum 2022 G2 Vineyard comes from an ultra-premium hillside vineyard in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles noted for steep, rocky slopes and calcareous soils that yield intensely concentrated grapes. The blend is 44% Grenache, 19% Mataro, 18% Graciano, 14% Syrah and 5% Carignan. The grapes underwent co-fermentation where appropriate, then the wine aged for 22 months in 300- and 600-litre French oak barrels with 77% new wood—a regimen that gives richness, depth and age-worthy structure.

Tasting Notes:
On the nose the 2022 G2 Vineyard delivers exuberant aromas of blackberries, red plums, violet candy, incense, Asian spice and a hint of fennel-like chaparral herbs. The palate is full-bodied and layered, with ripe dark fruit, gentle pepper and clove spice, velvety tannins and a smooth, lingering finish that traces through floral and savory notes toward a mineral-tinged close.
