Silenus Oak Knoll Chardonnay

Winery & Winemaking Overview
Silenus Winery, located in Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll District, focuses on small-lot production with an emphasis on vineyard expression and classic winemaking techniques. Oak Knoll is one of Napa’s cooler sub-appellations, benefiting from marine influences that moderate temperatures and extend the growing season—ideal conditions for Chardonnay.
Fruit is harvested at optimal ripeness to retain both freshness and flavour concentration. Fermentation typically takes place in French oak barrels, followed by ageing on lees to build texture and complexity. Partial malolactic fermentation is often employed to balance acidity with a rounder mouthfeel. Oak usage is measured, aiming to complement rather than dominate the fruit.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale gold with straw highlights
Nose: Aromas of apple, pear, and citrus, with notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and subtle butter
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with flavours of orchard fruit, lemon curd, and light baking spice; balanced acidity supports a slightly creamy texture
Finish: Smooth and persistent, with lingering citrus, oak, and gentle spice

Cellaring & Pairings
Enjoy now or cellar for 3–5 years to allow further integration and development.
Pairs well with roasted chicken, seafood (particularly shellfish), creamy pasta dishes, and soft to semi-firm cheeses. Also complements dishes with buttery sauces or mild spice.
