Tomatin Portuguese Collection Madeira Cask

Tomatin Distillery, founded in 1897 near Inverness, is known for its soft, fruit-forward Highland style, making it an ideal canvas for extended cask finishing. The Portuguese Collection explores the influence of fortified wine casks, with each whisky initially matured for eight years in traditional oak before spending an additional seven years in Portuguese wine barrels.
The Madeira Cask edition uses ex-Madeira wine barrels, imparting a more oxidative, nutty, and slightly drier profile compared to the sweeter Moscatel or Port variants.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Honey and lemon lead, followed by dried fruit, light nuttiness, and warming spice with a subtle oxidative edge.

Palate: Medium-full and textured, with caramel, apple compote, and vanilla layered alongside ginger, nutmeg, and gentle oak tannin.

Finish: Medium to long, with lingering fruitcake notes, soft spice, and a lightly dry, nutty fade.
