Tomatin Portuguese Collection Moscatel Cask

Tomatin Distillery, founded in 1897 near Inverness, is known for its gentle, fruit-forward Highland style that responds exceptionally well to cask finishing. The Portuguese Collection explores the influence of fortified wine casks, with each whisky initially matured in traditional oak before being re-casked in Portuguese wine barrels for extended finishing. The Moscatel edition is finished in Moscatel de Setúbal casks, a fortified wine style known for its rich, grapey sweetness and notes of apricot, honey, and caramel.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Jammy fruit, honey, and salted caramel lead, followed by citrus zest and soft vanilla.

Palate: Rich and rounded, with notes of candied orange, dried fruit, ginger, and warming spice layered over a creamy texture.

Finish: Long and indulgent, with lingering sweetness reminiscent of dessert wine, soft spice, and caramelized fruit.
