Chateau du Trignon Rasteau Red

Château du Trignon, located in the southern Rhône Valley, is known for producing wines that reflect the character of classic appellations such as Rasteau, Gigondas, and Vacqueyras. Rasteau, elevated to Cru status in 2010, is recognized for its powerful, full-bodied red wines.

The wine is typically Grenache-dominant, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre. The region’s warm, dry climate and varied soils—including clay and limestone—allow for full ripening and concentration while maintaining structure.

Grapes are harvested at optimal maturity and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks, with extended maceration to extract colour and tannin. The wine is then aged in a combination of tank and oak vessels, allowing for integration while preserving the fruit-driven core.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with garnet hues
Nose: Aromas of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, with notes of spice, licorice, and dried herbs (garrigue)
Palate: Full-bodied, with concentrated dark fruit, firm tannins, and balanced acidity; flavours of spice, cocoa, and savoury herbs add depth
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering fruit, spice, and earthy undertones

Cellaring & Pairings
Suitable for mid- to long-term cellaring; drink now with decanting or cellar for 8–12+ years.

Pairs well with roasted lamb, beef, and game, as well as hearty stews and Mediterranean dishes. Also complements dishes with herbs, spice, and robust flavours.
