Le Bèrne Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

Podere Le Bèrne is a family-run estate located near Montepulciano in Tuscany, focused on organic farming and traditional winemaking practices. The estate emphasizes expressing the terroir of the region through careful vineyard management and restrained cellar techniques.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is made primarily from Prugnolo Gentile, the local clone of Sangiovese, often blended with small amounts of other permitted native varieties. The region’s rolling hills, clay-limestone soils, and moderate climate contribute to wines with both richness and freshness.

Fermentation is typically carried out in stainless steel or concrete, followed by ageing in large Slavonian oak casks and/or French oak barrels, depending on the vintage and style. The ageing process softens tannins and develops complexity while preserving the wine’s Tuscan character.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with garnet reflections
Nose: Aromas of cherry, plum, and dried red berries, with notes of tobacco, leather, dried herbs, and spice
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with vibrant acidity and firm yet refined tannins; flavours of red fruit, earth, and savoury spice are layered with subtle oak influence
Finish: Long and structured, with lingering cherry, spice, and earthy undertones

Cellaring & Pairings
Enjoy now with decanting or cellar for 8–12 years to allow further development and integration.

Pairs well with grilled meats, braised dishes, and rich pasta sauces. Also complements mushroom dishes, aged Pecorino, and traditional Tuscan cuisine.
