A rich, full-strength Kentucky wheat whiskey showcasing the softer, sweeter side of American whiskey without sacrificing intensity. Freshly baked bread, buttery caramel and golden honey meet toasted oak, vanilla and warming clove spice, finishing with lingering sweetness and a satisfying barrel-proof warmth. Aged between seven and nine years and bottled without chill filtration, this is an exceptionally flavourful expression of Bernheim's signature winter wheat mash bill.

Bernheim Barrel Proof

Bernheim Barrel Proof is a Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey produced by Heaven Hill Distillery at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.
First introduced in 2023, this expression builds on Bernheim Original, which debuted in 2005 and helped establish wheat whiskey as a distinct category of modern American whiskey. Unlike wheated bourbon, which uses corn as its primary grain, Bernheim is made with 51% winter wheat, creating a naturally softer, breadier character. The Barrel Proof expression is released in individually numbered batches, typically twice annually, with the bottling strength varying between releases.

Mash Bill & Maturation
Bernheim Barrel Proof uses Heaven Hill's distinctive three-grain recipe:
- 51% winter wheat: Soft bread, gentle sweetness and a rounded mouthfeel.
- 37% corn: Caramel, vanilla and additional body.
- 12% malted barley: Toasted grain and subtle nutty complexity.
The whiskey matures for seven to nine years in new charred American oak barrels within Heaven Hill's traditional open-air Kentucky rickhouses.
