Penelope Cooper Series Rio 2026

Penelope Cooper Series Rio 2026 is the latest annual release of one of Penelope Bourbon’s most distinctive finished whiskeys. Originally introduced in 2023, Rio takes its inspiration from Brazil, pairing American bourbon with an unusual combination of honey-seasoned barrels and Brazilian Amburana wood.

Cask & Maturation
Rio's signature character comes from its sequential double cask finish:
- American honey barrels: The bourbon is first finished in barrels previously used for honey, developing notes of honeycomb, floral sweetness, toffee and pastry.
- Brazilian Amburana oak: It is then transferred into Amburana barrels, introducing fragrant cinnamon, baking spice and toasted wood.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Warm golden amber.
Nose: Floral honeycomb, vanilla, buttery toffee and graham crackers, with hints of cinnamon toast.
Palate: Rich honey nectar, cinnamon sugar and vanilla develop into sweet baking spices, toasted almonds and buttery pastry.
Finish: Lingering honey, toasted oak and cinnamon, with gentle spice and a touch of candied orange.
