Chateau Haute de la Becade 2020 Pauillac

Chateau Haute de la Becade 2020 Pauillac

Beautiful nose of blackberries, black cherries, cloves, black pepper, and a little dark chocolate. The wine has a compelling intensity of bramble fruits on the palate, energetic, and mouth filling, with elegance and finesse. Juicy, long finish. - Decanter

Chateau Haute de la Becade

The Médoc region sees hot summers, moderated by cool Atlantic breezes and well-timed rainfall, resulting in excellent ripeness, depth, and balance. Pauillac’s deep gravel soils and Cabernet-heavy blends benefited from these conditions, offering wines with intensity, concentration, and refined structure. Château Haute de la Bécade, located near some of the most revered crus classés, consistently produces age-worthy wines that reflect both vintage character and regional typicity.

Tasting Notes:
Château Haute de la Bécade opens with inviting aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, cedarwood, and dried violets, layered with hints of tobacco leaf, cigar box, and sweet spice. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, delivering classic Left Bank flavors of black plum, earthy minerality, and roasted coffee. Firm, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity provide structure and aging potential, while the finish is long and savory with echoes of leather, dried herbs, and smoke.

Serving Suggestion:
17–18°C (63–65°F) in Bordeaux-style glasses. If drinking young, decant for 1–2 hours to soften the tannins and bring out complexity. Ideal food pairings include grilled lamb chops, beef Wellington, roast duck, or hard cheeses like aged Comté or Manchego. While approachable in its youth with air, this wine will evolve beautifully over 8–12 years, rewarding patient cellaring.
