Freemark Abbey 2019 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2019 growing season in Napa Valley began with a cool, wet spring that delayed budbreak but set the stage for a long, even ripening period. A mild summer with no prolonged heat waves allowed Cabernet Sauvignon to develop deep color, complex aromatics, and fine tannin structure. The harvest period was warm and dry, ensuring optimal fruit maturity. In Rutherford, these conditions yielded wines with balanced power, freshness, and exceptional aging potential.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions:
Classic Rutherford depth and structure, opening with aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum, layered with cedar, graphite, and a hint of dried sage. The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, delivering flavors of blackberry compote, dark chocolate, and espresso, framed by firm yet polished tannins. The finish is long and savory, with the signature Rutherford dust character providing earthy elegance.
Serve at 17–18Β°C (63–65Β°F) in large Bordeaux-style glasses. Decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to fully open its aromatics and soften the tannins. Best paired with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, rack of lamb with rosemary, or mature cheddar. This wine is enjoyable now with decanting but will reward cellaring for 12–15 years.
