Michel Mallard et Fils 2019 La Corvee

Michel Mallard et Fils 2019 La Corvee

The 2019 Ladoix La Corvée 1er Cru, which comes from south-facing vines, is tightly
wound on the nose, offering intense blackberry, briary and light sea spray scents, plus
perhaps just a touch of shucked oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with supple
tannins and a fine bead of acidity.

Michel Mallard et Fils 2019 La Corvee

The 2019 vintage in Burgundy was characterized by low yields and excellent concentration. A warm, dry summer followed a relatively mild winter and early spring, leading to ripe, healthy fruit and smaller berries packed with flavor. Thanks to cool nighttime temperatures, acidity was preserved, and the wines exhibit a beautiful balance of ripeness and freshness.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions:
The 2019 La Corvée opens with perfumed aromas of black raspberry, red cherry, rose petals, and hints of forest floor and spice box. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, unfolding with flavors of wild strawberry, cranberry, and subtle notes of clove, earth, and chalky minerality. Tannins are refined and well-integrated, giving the wine graceful structure, while its vibrant acidity lends lift and longevity. The finish is delicate and persistent, marked by savory undertones and a whisper of smoke and dried herbs.
Serve slightly cool, at 15–16°C (59–61°F), in Burgundy-style glasses. If drinking young, decant for 30–45 minutes to allow the wine to open. Ideal food pairings include duck breast with cherry reduction, herb-roasted chicken, mushroom risotto, or thyme-scented pork loin. Enjoy now for its youthful charm, or cellar for 8–12 years to see its earthy, floral complexity evolve.
