Banfi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

Banfi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

A beautiful red with cedar, mushroom and cherry character, as well as hints of sandalwood. It’s medium-bodied and very polished with loveliness and finesse that comes through clearly. A wine to drink young, but will age very nicely. - James Suckling

Banfi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

The 2020 vintage at Banfi saw mild winter and spring conditions, with occasional rain in June that supported balanced vegetative growth. The summer months were warm and sunny, enabling full phenolic ripeness. The vineyards are situated on calcareous, stony soils and clay, ranging in terrain and elevation, which help foster both depth and mineral tension in the wine.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions:
The 2020 Banfi Brunello displays aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, and sweet rose, intertwined with touches of grilled herb, licorice, and pipe tobacco. On the palate, it is vibrant and energetic with polished tannins and fresh acid driving flavors of pomegranate, blackberry, and wet earth. The finish is long and resonant, offering both fruit intensity and structuring grip.
Serve at 18°C (64–65°F) in large, bowl-shaped Burgundy-style glasses to emphasize its aromatic complexity and layered structure. Decant for 1.5 to 2 hours if drinking young to soften tannins and fully open the bouquet.
