Founded in 1881 on the Rhinns of Islay, Bruichladdich Distillery is known for its progressive approach to Scotch whisky, emphasizing transparency, sustainability, and ingredient provenance. The Islay Barley series highlights barley grown entirely on local farms, reinforcing the distillery’s belief that terroir influences whisky as much as it does wine. The 2014 vintage was distilled using barley sourced from eight Islay farms located within roughly an 11-mile radius of the distillery and matured primarily in first-fill bourbon casks, with smaller portions aged in sherry and wine casks. Non-chill filtered and colour-free, the whisky is fully traceable from farm to bottle and matured entirely on the island, reinforcing Bruichladdich’s commitment to authenticity and place.
