Cambria 2022 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard

Cambria 2022 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard

Achieves excellent balance between a tangy feel and generous flavors. Quite toasty, flinty and nervy in aromas before a ripe, buttery palate delivers good richness and length. Minerals and sea salt on the nose, then bright pineapple, baked apple, butter and lemon zest on the palate.Β - James Suckling

Cambria 2022 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard

The 2022 vintage in Santa Maria Valley saw a cool, extended growing season, shaped by the region’s signature coastal fog and afternoon breezes. Budbreak was slightly delayed by a cool spring, followed by a warm but not extreme summer that allowed for slow, even ripening. These conditions were ideal for Chardonnay, helping retain bright acidity, purity of fruit, and layered aromatics. The result is a balanced, expressive wine that reflects both the vineyard’s pedigree and the vintage’s freshness.

Tasting Notes:
The 2022 Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay opens with inviting aromas of green apple, citrus blossom, pear, and a touch of vanilla and baking spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a creamy texture and flavors of lemon curd, white peach, and toasted almond, framed by a hint of buttered brioche and wet stone minerality. The balanced acidity lifts the richness, leading to a long, fresh finish with notes of citrus zest and light oak. It’s a beautifully composed Chardonnay; vibrant yet smooth.

Serving Suggestions:
Lightly chilled at 10–12Β°C (50–54Β°F) in medium-sized white wine glasses to enhance its aroma and texture. This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, buttered lobster, seared scallops, or creamy pasta dishes. It also complements soft cheeses like Brie or triple-cream, and vegetable dishes featuring butternut squash or corn.
